Western Electric 633A

A Western Electric 633A

Hear the sound of this mic voiced by Ellis Dawson.

Dennis Schrank writes:
This is the famous 633A “salt shaker” mic first produced by Western Electric, and later by Altec. A rugged low-impedance dynamic mic, it can be mounted vertically for non-directional pickup or horizontally for directional pickup. It was popular with radio stations for many years. They are difficult to find complete and in good condition. The swivel mount and split ring ⅝"-24 to ⅝"-27 adapter are needed to mount it onto a modern stand.

Information related to the Altec 633C is available.
