This 1913 Chickering grand piano was purchased that year by members of the Sierra Madre Woman’s Club. Founded in 1907, the Southern California philanthropic organization is still active. During 2007 its members held a Centennial Celebration, at which Sierra Madre’s own ragtime pianist Vincent Johnson performed this tune on the Chickering, Good Gravy Rag, composed by Harry Belding in 1913, the same year this piano was constructed.
